First Week of School
Haven't written in a while and that's because first week of school is crazy! I am finding that I don't have nearly enough time in the day to accomplish what I want. The students are great and I think it will be a great year once I have them "trained"! Since I did my student teaching half way through a school year, the students were already perfect on their routines and procedures. Well newsflash to me on the first day of school,it is NOT easy getting them there! I spent pretty much the whole time teaching them things I always thought of as "basics" and telling students they couldn't go to the restroom every 5 minutes. Oh and worst teacher ever over here forgot to take my class to recess on the very first day of school. Really, who does that? Apparently me...Anyway after that rough first day finishing my business degree was looking more and more appealing. But I work with some good people who told me it will get better and they were right. Each day of teaching I learn so much. Since it is all still getting into a routine there is no new or exciting projects to post just yet but there will be coming soon! Oh and any tips on classroom management for a first year teacher is welcome!

Classroom Jobs
I have pretty much got everything I need made! I decided to make my classroom job chart using some pictures I got with a bundle of Hollywood themed things. I cut out letters on the cricut to show the name of the job. I attached it all to a poster board and laminated it. I put a velcro dot next to each dot. The students have a star with their name on it and I just put a big strip of velcro to attach the stars on the side of the star chart. As I take the stars down at the beginning of the week to change jobs I will take them and place them at the end of the velcro line so I can make sure I am rotating each week.

Hollywood Birthday Chart and Star Behavior Chart
I wanted to make my birthday chart fit into my theme and be durable to use for a couple of years at least. I ordered the month and film strips online and then I printed them and laminated them. My aunt attached it all onto a black poster board and decorated with cute stickers. Since it is laminated I am going to use dry erase markers and have the parents write their child's name and birthday into a box in the film strip on the meet the teacher night!

For my behavior chart I was having a hard time coming up with things that fit into Hollywood. I decided to use stars because it fits pretty well. I have 5 sections on the chart. Mega Star at the top then super star underneath then start student then drifting star then falling star. No student will start out on the star chart. If they show good behavior I will say put your ticket in yellow. If they do something good again I will say move up the chart and so on. Obviously drifting star and falling star are for bad behavior. The chart is just a regular pocket chart and the paper is stuck to the back so the students can slip their ticket in between the color and the strip. There are different level prizes for each good color and different consequences for bad. The ticket they use for the chart is an admit one ticket that looks like a movie ticket with their picture on it.

Student of the week board
I started my student of the week board today. I cut out letters in black sparkle paper and got some fun ribbon and criss-crossed it over the board so I can just slide the pictures behind the ribbon. I put staples over the ribbon to make it tight enough for the pictures to stay up. In the center I put a paper I made to tell all about the student of the week.
This is a picture of the information paper I made for the student of the week. Unfortunately I am not finding a way to make it a link where people can download it to print but if anyone would like it just email me.
(I do not own any of those images they were all found under google images.)

Hollywood Name Plates
So I couldn't find any cute name plates for my students desks that I liked. I thought since I can't find any to buy I might as well make some. If I make them then I can make them fit my theme. I found a cute picture that looks like a spotlight mirror and then I used the same images I found from google images to decorate it. I also found a popcorn border on google images that I really liked. The 100 chart on the side was found on a math website. I printed it on card stock and will probably laminate them to make them last a little longer.
